Throwback Thursday: A closer look at Vogue USA
Vogue is known as the fashion bible for all the fashionistas in the world. The most wanted and talked about one is the Vogue USA of which miss Anna Wintour is in charge. In 1988 Anna took over the role of editor in chief at Vogue in the USA after having that role for the UK version of the magazine. Anna has since then took Vogue to a whole ‘nother level … Continue reading Throwback Thursday: A closer look at Vogue USA
Denim and soft colours for Knokke, Belgium
Two weeks ago I went on a one day road trip to Knokke with a friend. As the summer was almost coming to an end and I haven’t been abroad since Jamaica, I was feeling spontaneous. So I called up my friend early in the morning to see if she would share my spontaneity and she did. There we were on our way with drinks and snacks for our almost 3 hour road trip with background music and an open rooftop. Halfway we made a pit stop and I had a cheat eat at McDonald’s of which I shared a photo on Instagram. We made it to Knokke around a few minutes past five in the afternoon. Hooray for Italian Tuesday
At the beginning of this year I started a food tradition of my own, that every Tuesday I’d eat Italian food and call it Italian Tuesdays. This all started when I was in Suriname this january and ordered pasta with tomato sauce on a Tuesday at my favourite terrace in Paramaribo City, ‘t Vat. An absolute must-visit when you’re in Suriname. The next week I found myself eating … Continue reading Hooray for Italian Tuesday
Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn
It’s official. The summer of 2014 is over. Done, past and gone. It;s time to slowly store away our summer wardrobe, the flip-flops, bikini’s, sun hats and sunscreens (unless you’re going to a tropical Island, Lucky you) and search for those knits and boots again. As sad as I am that my favourite season is over, just as happy I am that it’s now fall :). … Continue reading Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn

Moschino brings you Barbie’s dream wardrobe
When it comes to Moschino fun, playful, provoking and unorthodox are words you can best use to describe the looks this Italian brand gives you. As the late designer Franco Moschino didn’t pay any mind to the fashion elite, the current designer Jeremy Scott, who made his debut at Moschino last season, is happy to continue this tradition. No one can do Kitsch better than Scott and with his Spring/ Summer 2015 designs he proves this again. Continue reading “Moschino brings you Barbie’s dream wardrobe”
Fashionistas at AFWA 2014
Where there’s fashion week, there are the fashionistas. All dressed up and ready to go. At the first edition of Africa Fashion Week Amsterdam, held last month at the World Fashion Centre (WFC), it was not any different. Since it was all about African fashion you can imagine that most of these fashionistas pulled out their African ensembles to show off at the event and pose in front of the wall of fame. Of course I couldn’t resist getting these fabulous African inspired outfits on camera and took some snap shots of my favourite ones spotted on day 1 and day to of AFWA 2014. Stylish in H&M with a touch de l’Afrique at AFWA 2014
The first edition of Africa Fashion Week Amsterdam is a fact. Like you can read in my previous post “Africa Fashion Week is taking Amsterdam“, I attended the fashion shows, held in World Fashion Centre (WFC), to volunteer on day 1 and visited as press on day 2. From both days there are cover stories available in the posts about Preparation and Backstage, AFWA day 1 and AFWA day 2. While on day 1 I had my work outfit on, which was a simple black suit and a white blouse, on day 2 it was time to shine again. Continue reading “Stylish in H&M with a touch de l’Afrique at AFWA 2014”

Dope street style at Kwaku Summer Festival in Amsterdam
Kwaku Summer Festival is an annual Surinamese themed summer festival that is being held in Amsterdam Southeast (The Bijlmer) for a few weekends, on Saturday on Sunday, in a row. This used to be six weekends, but this year the festival was open for five weekends. From July 12 – August 10, visitors of Kwaku were able to enjoy good music, entertainment, shopping at different booths and of course good Surinamese food, and lots of it. Typical Surinamese dishes, snacks, pastry, drinks (Parbo Bier) and desserts are yours for the choosing. And a lot of BBQ. If you want a taste of the Surinamese culture Kwaku is the place to be. At Kwaku you can experience a little bit of Suriname without actually taking that trip all the way to South America. Besides Surinamese food and other Caribbean food, there is also African food and Dutch food and since it’s summer time you can find fresh tropical fruits and fruit juices at several fruit booths. 30 days before 30 years
You probably wouldn’t guess it but in 30 days I will be turning the big three 0. A few years ago I thought I would have a problem turning 30 but now that it is near I don’t mind at all. Bring it on, new era, new challenges, new lessons, new life. The same me but with a different mindset. While many people may not know what they want to do with their lives at this age and often still wonder when they are way over 30, I know exactly what I want in life and most importantly from myself. Banging outfits in Bang Bang music video
Sometimes you see music videos where you just go wow on the total look of the singers. The clothes, the shoes, the accessories. Just the outfits. The fashion! In the new video of Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj I thought just that. Wow! The printed skirt and leather bustier that complements Nicki’s curvacious figure, the dress with the slit on Jessie’s body, which suits her just perfect, the two piece pink and silver outfit of Ariana that makes her look sexy but classy.
