Hello my dear readers. It’s been a while since I’ve posted something ,oh my, how the days went by. Over 10 days ago I dropped my last post. But I can tell you that I did not just sat around and chill. There are so many projects I’ve been working on, a new freelance job, private matters and of course..the Caribbean Fashion Show! Continue reading “Things are cooking for the Caribbean Fashion Show”
Winter is officially here. December 21, the shortest day of the year and I must say that it is true. This morning I waited to see what time the sun would rise or better said what time it would be daylight, because there was actually no sign of the sun today. Nothing, nada. At least not here in my city. About 9:15 it was daylight and about 15:45 it was already time for sunset. Really the shortest day, but still enjoyable. In the afternoon I went to the city center because I heard of a final sale at a shoe store with great quality shoes. Continue reading “My American style winter boots”
As you could read in my previous post about the first Caribbean Fashion Show by Dy Muñeca the Caribbean Fashion Spot, I had my first catwalk experience. Next to my role as the catwalk coach for this show, I had to do a little appearance on the runway myself. In this post I would like to share this experience with you. Continue reading “My first catwalk experience”
The Caribbean Fashion Week 2014 in Kingston, Jamaica was the first international Fashion Week I’ve been to and therefore it’s definitely going in my Fashion History Book. It was a pleasure and honor to be there as one of the media to capture this event from the frontline for Dy Muñeca the Caribbean Fashion Spot. Like I told you before in this post about CFW, I was there as a part of the Caribbean Fashion Spot. That’s why I talk about “we” in my Jamaica posts. My biggest role at the Caribbean Fashion Week shows was that of photographer. In this post I will share my experience of being photographer, visitor and fashionista at the same time. Continue reading “How I experienced the CFW 2014 fashion shows in Kingston”
Taking pictures in the fitting room is a good way to see how clothes (dresses) look on you: front, side and back. Loved this dress mainly because of the print, but in the end I didn’t get it. But I will always have this photo. Continue reading Just a photo up
Today I would like to share with you my Fashion Diva mood board. This mood board describes me and my fashion taste the best way. I like color and nice things. I love shopping! When it comes to fashion I like it classy, chique, sophisticated and sometimes casual. What else can you tell about me by looking at this? I wonder… Continue reading My Fashion Diva mood board
A bunch of crazy silly selfies, made in Suriname this year in January. It was my first real night of clubbing! I needed a nice dress to go with my curlies and pink lipstick. That same day I went shopping at Maretraite Mall and came back home with a peplum one I got at Dojo Couture. It was my first, and yet only, peplum dress. Last year on this date, April 30, it was the last Queensday in the Netherlands. On this day, April 30 2013, the crown prince Willem Alexander was crowned King of the Netherlands, meaning the national holiday Queensday is now Kingsday. The difference is that the date April 30 we were all used to for decades is now changed to April 26. This is because April 30 was the birthday of the late former Queen Juliana, and also the date her daughter, crown princess Beatrix at that time and now former Queen Beatrix, was crowned Queen of the Netherlands. Queen Beatrix kept the tradition of the national holiday Queensday on April 30. But since King Willem Alexander is crowned, this holiday is changed to April 26, given the fact that this is his birthday, even if he was crowned on April 30 also. So last Saturday April 26 we had our first Kingsday. Continue reading “Open Air Boutique on Kingsday”
This week I wrote about my Topshop discovery in Amsterdam and that it’s located as a shop in shop in the very chique department store de Bijenkorf. As it happened I wanted to pay a visit to de Bijenkorf for a long time now, because I had a gift card, and also wanted to visit Topshop. This way I could visit them both at once! Also this week from 2 – 6 april it’s the “Maffe Marathon” at de Bijenkorf, which literally means “Crazy Marathon”, with 5 days of discounts and special offers. So thursday I went to de Bijenkorf and finally visited Topshop. Continue reading “My first Topshop visit and purchase”
Two weeks ago I found my renewed love for Primark and went for a little shopping at Primark Almere that weekend. Like I promised in my post “My renewed love for Primark” I would do a haul of the things I purchased. Today I finally took the pictures of everything I got the day I found my love for Primark again. In my firts haul I give you my first big Primark purchase.
I’ve heard about Topshop via internet and was a little bummed that it isn’t in the Netherlands. So I thought. Oh, well when I’m in the UK or USA I will visit this store because they have great fashion pieces. I like it, I wanna see more. Men, why isn’t this shop here? Bummer! All this was going through my mind when I saw their fashion for the first time. Just two days ago I found out that Topshop is also in the Netherlands. That is the moment when I googled Topshop and read that there is a store in the Netherlands indeed. Continue reading “My Topshop discovery”
Last week I talked about cleaning out the closet for Spring season. Well, I have to say that I didn’t get as far as I planned to at the beginning. I did manage to rearrange the extra clothing racks that I have besides my closet, to hang my dresses, blouses and blazers. And my shoe rack.
In Europe most of us know and love Primark, especially for their low prices. It is the perfect store for fashionistas on a budget. Because I wasn’t the biggest fan of Primark at the beginning (See post “My first experiences with Primark”) I wasn’t very excited to find out that there was finally going to be a store in my city Almere in november 2012. And I most certainly didn’t plan to visit that store in the first week, let along the first day which was 12-12-2012. That would be hell with the massive crowd.
My first visit to a Primark store was in june 2011, in the city Hoofddorp, Netherlands. I’ve heard about this store where you can buy great fashion for very low prices. But back then Primark wasn’t in my city yet. The day I visited Primark was actually a day that I had a promotion gig for Lipton Ice Tea in the centre of Hoofddorp. Every once in a while a do these projects for A class brands. So that day after work was done my colleagues decided to go shopping at Primark and, since I’ve never been and was curious about it, I decided to join them. Continue reading “My first experiences with Primark”
Spring time is almost here. You know what that means to most of us. Spring cleaning! And to me a big part of spring cleaning means: cleaning out the closet. Every year I have a period where I go through my closet and give away clothing, but also shoes and bags that I don’t want anymore for several reasons. It could be because I don’t like them anymore, the colors faded, I’ve outgrown them in the sense of maturing, or it’s just out of style. Not that I care too much about what’s in style, but sometimes you gotta admit when something is just not done anymore. Continue reading “Cleaning out the closet part one”
