Introducing my champion city: Paramaribo

Paramaribo (87)

Here it is my dears. Finally! After sharing a few of my I Love Su outfits, showing you that Paramaribo is a fashion city, telling you about the I Love Su fashion gear and blogging about independence day, I know many of you must have waited for this one. Paramaribo. Yes. PARAMARIBO! In this post I’m going to introduce you to the city I was born and raised in, which I’ve always been so proud to tell you guys about. No matter where I go, I always represent my country Suriname and I am very proud to be from Paramaribo, the capital of Suriname. Like I always say, never forget where you come from. Sporting I Love Su and a fro in Ibiza

Ibiza Su 13 Collage

In these cold winter times it’s always fun to look back at those warm sunny vacations you had in the past. Even though winter has his charms, I’m a sunshine loving girl who will pick a cocktail under a palm tree vacay anytime. But giving the fact that I just recently had a mini break in Barcelona and not going anywhere now, at least not in the next few weeks, I wanted to take this time and look back on some of my sunny trips in the recent past. Jamaica Nostalgia: one year after

20140610_201635

Last year on June 10, I was on my way as part of Caribbean Fashion Spot (CFS) to Jamaica for the Caribbean Fashion Week in Kingston. This week I’m feeling a little nostalgic and like to look back on the great time I had during this “workaction”, starting with the trip to Kingston. The best trips are those of which you mix business with pleasure. If someone would’ve told me that one year later CFS would be in the middle of organizing its own Caribbean fashion show during the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Amsterdam (MBFWA), I would not have believed them. A walk in Ciutadella Park

20141011_135216

In this post I like to share some great shots I took while in Ciutadella Park and some more shots of myself while walking in the park. Parc de Ciutadella, as it is called in Spanish, is one of the biggest and must visit parks of Barcelona and I had a great time during my visit. When walking in this park I totally lost track of time while taking all the beauty in me and shooting some great photos. Rocking I Love Su in Barcelona

I Love Su in Barcelona

As you could read in my previous posts, I took a little trip to Barcelona last month to celebrate my birthday. It was nothing too fancy and I spend the day with a small group. Since I’ve been celebrating my birthday for years in the autumn time here in the cold, I couldn’t let the opportunity of going to the beach in October pass me by. So that’s where we headed after a nice lunch, I was wearing my new Denim & Co dress and sunglasses. How amazing it was to have a sunny birthday after all these years. True to myself, I had Italian for dinner at a nice restaurant called Little Italy. Pictures of my birthday can be found on my Instagram.   Continue reading “Rocking I Love Su in Barcelona”

Another Barcelona Trip

20141105_103342

Just 4 weeks ago I was in Barcelona to celebrate my 30th birthday and do the first Caribbean fashion show for Dy Muñeca The Caribbean Fashion Spot. Now I’m back after 3 weeks, this time it was for the celebration of my sister’s birthday which was this past Friday. We went to Ibiza for her birthday and had us a sunny good ol’ time. The past weeks there wasn’t so much going on here on XX Fashion Diva as I had other things going on and took a little step back. But after this trip that is about to change. As you can see I still did my weekly posts on Monday and Saturday.   Continue reading “Another Barcelona Trip”

Back from Barcelona

20141008_100302

After a week in Barcelona, Spain, I am back home in the Netherlands and recharging from my vacation. Yesterday morning I arrived home and man I needed some rest. It was a fun week where I celebrated my 30th birthday, took part in the first fashion show of Caribbean Fashion Spot and even had a little get away to Lloret de Mar. What a week. Can’t believe it went by so fast. Like I said before, I wanted to take you on this trip with me, but sadly the wifi connection was so bad that every time I wanted to do a post it just didn’t happen, so sorry about that. Especially because I know that I said there would be a new post on the website everyday. Now I know that this is not always in my hands. And when I got home yesterday, I was too tired to post something. Continue reading “Back from Barcelona”

Printed maxi for Barcelona day 1

Barcelona 2014

Hola from Barcelona. It is so good to be back here. Every time I’m in Barcelona I do feel like I’m on holiday for sure. The temperatures, the sun, the breeze, the palm trees, the whole enchilada. Barcelona, te quiero mucho. After a good night of sleep and a good lunch I was ready to take on Barcelona yesterday. Like I told you in my previous post I’m here to celebrate my birthday and, besides from my sister who lives in Barça and my mom who came with me, I invited two special guests with me to come join me for this long Birthday Weekend. City, Beach, Sun and Fun. That’s the theme of my  party this year. Also I’m here for the first fashion show of Caribbean Fashion Spot that is going down on Sunday, October 12 in club Shoko. Denim and soft colours for Knokke, Belgium

Knokke outfit

Two weeks ago I went on a one day road trip to Knokke with a friend. As the summer was almost coming to an end and I haven’t been abroad since Jamaica, I was feeling spontaneous. So I called up my friend early in the morning to see if she would share my spontaneity and she did. There we were on our way with drinks and snacks for our almost 3 hour road trip with background music and an open rooftop. Halfway we made a pit stop and I had a cheat eat at McDonald’s of which I shared a photo on Instagram. We made it to Knokke around a few minutes past five in the afternoon. Travel Diary: An afternoon in Lier, Belgium

20140705_152220

Happy Sunday everybody. Hopefully you guys enjoyed your weekend, cause I did, and I’ll tell you about this weekend soon. Today I would like to introduce you to a new series that I’m starting on the blog, which is called Travel Diary. In these diaries I will share photos of the cities and places I went recently or in the past (to give you a little throwback) since I like to travel, and give you an idea of places you can go also, if you know these places already you might discover new things to do on a next visit. Depending on how much you like the series, I will do this more often. Kicking it off with a place in Belgium called Lier, which I visited last month with family, as we went on an organised bus trip. How to get by on a budget in Kingston, Jamaica

Jamaica 2014

This year I had the pleasure to visit Kingston, Jamaica as I told you in a few posts now. If you’ve been following this blog for a while now, you know exactly when and why I was there. If not, you can read it in this post. From my own experience I can say that life in Kingston, Jamaica can be quite expensive. Now if you’re planning to go on vacation in Kingston on a budget, I’d like to give you some tips that might help you out on how to get by. Downtown Kingston is not downtown Manhattan

20140616_171253

One of the things I really wanted to do while in Kingston, Jamaica was visiting downtown Kingston. From day one the locals told me that it wasn’t what I may picture in my head. “Downtown Kingston is not like downtown Manhattan where you can walk down the street in your high heels with your designer purse”, is what I was told by the local we were staying at. “It’s rough”. No matter how rough it might be, I am a Caribbean girl also, so how much more rough can it be than downtown Paramaribo, Suriname I thought. Before my time in Kingston was up, I wanted to visit downtown Kingston and see it for myself. So on my last day in Kingston I did. Continue reading “Downtown Kingston is not downtown Manhattan”
