Barbie inspires Moschino

When it comes to Moschino fun, playful, provoking and unorthodox are words you can best use to describe the looks this Italian brand gives you. No one can do Kitsch better than Scott and with his Spring/ Summer 2015 designs he proves this again. Continue reading “Moschino brings you Barbie’s dream wardrobe”

Ten things you want your style to say about you

Styleisawaytosay

When dressing yourself you want to send out a certain message to the rest of the world. Whether if it is intentional or not, your style does say something about you, and this can be either positive or negative. Most people do dress with a certain intent and already have their signature style, while others may have a signature style to the rest of the world, but they actually are not sending out the message they really want to send. Like it or not, you will be judged by the way you dress. Even if you think that people should know you first before they judge you, they can’t see your personality first. That’s why I have summed up ten things you want your style to say about you when people see you, and how you can do that. Continue reading “Ten things you want your style to say about you”

Fashion and romance in Dutch film ‘Hartenstraat’

Hartenstraat header

Besides fashion and good food I really love movies. I guess you can say that when it comes to movies I am a big Hollywood fan. But from time to time I can watch a Dutch movie if the storyline sounds good. So I did yesterday. Since I had to be in Amsterdam city centre for a meeting, I thought why not take this opportunity to go see a movie at the Pathé cinema in the city centre, giving the fact that I almost always go to the cinema in Amsterdam Southeast. I Love SU fashion line at Dresscode in Paramaribo

IMG-20140205-02198

The I love.. shirts are a fashion phenomenon and nowadays has become an integral part of casual street wear around the world. Most of you know the many I <3.. shirts of different cities like A’DAM, Berlin, London, Paris, Milan, Roma, Barcelona, Stockholm, NY, LA, Miami, Montreal, Tokyo and so on. In Suriname, where I’m from, there is the I Love SU fashion line and merchandise. While I’m not here to explain to you the history and demographics of Suriname, I can tell you that the population is not even close to one million citizens. Most people live in the capital city Paramaribo, and when there is talk about life in Suriname or going to Suriname it usually is about Paramaribo, but in general people speak of Su (short for Suriname). It is not like, for example, the United States or Spain (because of the big cities), that there is a I Love.. clothing line for almost every city. No, in small populated Suriname, like I said, they speak of Su. That is basically the history behind the choice of the name I Love SU. Paramaribo a Fashion City

IMG-20140122-00792

In January this year, due to family circumstances, I went to Suriname. After one emotional week it was also time to enjoy the country and the big city: Paramaribo. As always I look for inspiration wherever I go. Last summer I was there also and I came back very inspired. This year I went out again to see what Paramaribo has to offer when it comes to fashion. If you think that Paramaribo is not a fashion city think again! Surinamese people love fashion and always try their best to look their best, and dress up to the fullest when they go out. In his post I like to share Paramaribo from a fashion point of view. Continue reading “Paramaribo a Fashion City”

Anna Wintour look a like in the latest Captain America movie

Today I went to the new Marvel movie Captain America: The Winter Soldier. As I always watch movies with a fashion eye also, I couldn’t help but notice that one of the new S.H.I.E.L.D. members, played by Jenny Agutter, had a striking resemblance to Anna Wintour. Now I wonder if her style was based and inspired on that of miss Wintour. She didn’t have a big role in the film, but every time she came on I was thinking: hey Anna Wintour. That’s what I called her in the movie. On g4tv.com I’ve read that Jenny has actually already been in the MCU with a small role as a World Security Council member in The Avengers. Since I didn’t see that movie yet (I know, shame on me), I can’t comment on her looks there. In real life Jenny Agutter doesn’t look like Anna Wintour though.
