Open Air Boutique on Kingsday

IMG-20140426-04137

Last year on this date, April 30, it was the last Queensday in the Netherlands. On this day, April 30 2013, the crown prince Willem Alexander was crowned King of the Netherlands, meaning the national holiday Queensday is now Kingsday. The difference is that the date April 30 we were all used to for decades is now changed to April 26. This is because April 30 was the birthday of the late former Queen Juliana, and also the date her daughter, crown princess Beatrix at that time and now former Queen Beatrix, was crowned Queen of the Netherlands. Queen Beatrix kept the tradition of the national holiday Queensday on April 30. But since King Willem Alexander is crowned, this holiday is changed to April 26, given the fact that this is his birthday, even if he was crowned on April 30 also. So last Saturday April 26 we had our first Kingsday. Continue reading “Open Air Boutique on Kingsday”

My special outfit for the Grand opening of Forever 21

Yesterday I posted a picture of myself in the post “My special outfit” and told you that it was for a special day. This outfit I wore to the grand opening of the first Forever 21 in Amsterdam. As a fashion blogger I also went there to blog about the opening and I wanted to dress the part. I choose to wear my XX Fashion Diva t-shirt, one of my merchandise pieces, that I’d made especially for branding XX Fashion Diva. This way I wanted to send the message that I was there for my readers as well.

It’s April 25: All you need is a light jacket

Every year I look at the weather on April 25th to see what it’s like, what it feels like and if it stays the same during the day. Why? Because of something the character Cheryl Frasier, played by Heather Burns, said in Miss Congeniality when during the Miss United States pageant she was asked to describe her favorite date. “April 25th. Because it’s not too hot and it’s not too cold. All you need is a light jacket”, was her answer. True that, because every year on april 25th the weather is like that. Really all you need is a light jacket.

One year anniversary of Rana Plaza disaster

Exactly one year ago today the Rana Plaza building in Bangladesh collapsed taking 1.138 lives, and 140 are still unaccounted for. After this disaster we’ve learned that there were certain western brands that had their clothing manufactured there. One of them who was completely honest about that was Primark. Today I would like to take the time to honor the memory of the people who lost their lives and send my best to all the survivors and families of the dead workers.

Anna Wintour look a like in the latest Captain America movie

Today I went to the new Marvel movie Captain America: The Winter Soldier. As I always watch movies with a fashion eye also, I couldn’t help but notice that one of the new S.H.I.E.L.D. members, played by Jenny Agutter, had a striking resemblance to Anna Wintour. Now I wonder if her style was based and inspired on that of miss Wintour. She didn’t have a big role in the film, but every time she came on I was thinking: hey Anna Wintour. That’s what I called her in the movie. On g4tv.com I’ve read that Jenny has actually already been in the MCU with a small role as a World Security Council member in The Avengers. Since I didn’t see that movie yet (I know, shame on me), I can’t comment on her looks there. In real life Jenny Agutter doesn’t look like Anna Wintour though. Flashback Friday: Barcelona 2011

Flashback Barcelona waterfall

Today I would like to give you a sneak peek at some personal photo’s of myself in a flashback from 2011 in Barcelona. See my favorite black shiny jacket that I’ve lost last year summertime, in a 4 star hotel in Amsterdam and never found back. The very next day that I left it in the restaurant by accident I called and it was gone. Shame! But luckily I will always have these pictures. Continue reading “Flashback Friday: Barcelona 2011”

Plog: my much-needed pedicure

After two and a half months I finally got me a pedicure again. I know, that is a long time. Wearing high heels all the time can make your feet become hard underneath, and after all this time you can imagine the amount of callous I had on my heels too. Because I don’t have the right tools to remove all of this I decided to go to Coco Nails & Spa in Almere and get a pedicure there. In this plog I will show you the step by step action of my pedicure so that you can see that it is easy to do if you have the right tools at home. Or otherwise you can see what to expect when you go get a pedicure and gel nail polish after.
