Hey travel lovers, it’s time for Ibiza day 2! Last week I showed you the great photos of day 1 of my trip to Ibiza back in November 2014. Day 2 was all about enjoying the island more and exploring the neighbourhood we were staying in. This was such a perfect sunny day to do that. Very refreshing to experience that kind of weather again in November. Sadly I forgot my shades, so I had to fight the sun a little that day. But no stress. In these cold winter times it’s always fun to look back at those warm sunny vacations you had in the past. As you could read in my previous posts, I took a little trip to Barcelona last month to celebrate my birthday. It was nothing too fancy and I spend the day with a small group. Since I’ve been celebrating my birthday for years in the autumn time here in the cold, I couldn’t let the opportunity of going to the beach in October pass me by. So that’s where we headed after a nice lunch, I was wearing my new Denim & Co dress and sunglasses. How amazing it was to have a sunny birthday after all these years. Two weeks ago I went on a one day road trip to Knokke with a friend. As the summer was almost coming to an end and I haven’t been abroad since Jamaica, I was feeling spontaneous. So I called up my friend early in the morning to see if she would share my spontaneity and she did. There we were on our way with drinks and snacks for our almost 3 hour road trip with background music and an open rooftop. Halfway we made a pit stop and I had a cheat eat at McDonald’s of which I shared a photo on Instagram. We made it to Knokke around a few minutes past five in the afternoon. Good evening from my cosy couch. While I’m on the topic of events these past days, I wanted to share the look I was sporting at another event this summer. Only this time we’re taking it to Rotterdam instead of Amsterdam. Just like you might have seen I’m spending quite a lot of time in Amsterdam, visiting events and festivals, but not so much in Rotterdam. Well what can I say. I Love Amsterdam! But once a year I clear my schedule till early in the evening for my favorite event of the summer. The Summer Carnaval. As a Caribbean/ South American girl, music, dancing, parades and good food is in my blood. Like every year you could find me in Rotterdam for the Summer Carnaval, which was exactly a month ago today. The weekend before the Keti Koti Festival I went to another festival in Amsterdam where it was all about good reggae music. The first edition of the Amsterdam Reggae Village, an indoor festival in the Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam Southeast. A friend of mine actually invited me on Facebook to join this event. Still in Jamaica mode after my trip, I was very thrilled to read about it, and visited the website immediately. On my last day in Kingston I wanted to wear something casual and simple, as we would be out for the whole day, and finally visit downtown Kingston. And what better way to do that than the famous combination of jeans and a t-shirt. Besides that I wanted to go out and represent a little. One of my motto’s in life is that you always have to know where you come from to know where you go. Never forget who you are. The best way for me to represent was to wear one of my favorite shirts from the I Love Su brand. The shirt that has the name of the City that I was born and raised in: Paramaribo. Last year on this date, April 30, it was the last Queensday in the Netherlands. On this day, April 30 2013, the crown prince Willem Alexander was crowned King of the Netherlands, meaning the national holiday Queensday is now Kingsday. The difference is that the date April 30 we were all used to for decades is now changed to April 26. This is because April 30 was the birthday of the late former Queen Juliana, and also the date her daughter, crown princess Beatrix at that time and now former Queen Beatrix, was crowned Queen of the Netherlands. Queen Beatrix kept the tradition of the national holiday Queensday on April 30. But since King Willem Alexander is crowned, this holiday is changed to April 26, given the fact that this is his birthday, even if he was crowned on April 30 also. Every year I look at the weather on April 25th to see what it’s like, what it feels like and if it stays the same during the day. Why? Because of something the character Cheryl Frasier, played by Heather Burns, said in Miss Congeniality when during the Miss United States pageant she was asked to describe her favorite date. “April 25th. Because it’s not too hot and it’s not too cold. All you need is a light jacket”, was her answer. True that, because every year on april 25th the weather is like that. Really all you need is a light jacket.
