Last Thursday I went to the Huishoudbeurs (Household Fair) in Amsterdam with a friend. My oh my, we had so much fun. For the first time I decided to try out a few things at the fair for myself. Before I share this fantastic day with you, I’d like to take you back with me to the highlights of the Huishoudbeurs from last year. Because I didn’t get to it then, I figured why not now. On my last day in Kingston I wanted to wear something casual and simple, as we would be out for the whole day, and finally visit downtown Kingston. And what better way to do that than the famous combination of jeans and a t-shirt. Besides that I wanted to go out and represent a little. One of my motto’s in life is that you always have to know where you come from to know where you go. Never forget who you are. The best way for me to represent was to wear one of my favorite shirts from the I Love Su brand. The shirt that has the name of the City that I was born and raised in: Paramaribo. Last year on this date, April 30, it was the last Queensday in the Netherlands. On this day, April 30 2013, the crown prince Willem Alexander was crowned King of the Netherlands, meaning the national holiday Queensday is now Kingsday. The difference is that the date April 30 we were all used to for decades is now changed to April 26. This is because April 30 was the birthday of the late former Queen Juliana, and also the date her daughter, crown princess Beatrix at that time and now former Queen Beatrix, was crowned Queen of the Netherlands. Queen Beatrix kept the tradition of the national holiday Queensday on April 30. But since King Willem Alexander is crowned, this holiday is changed to April 26, given the fact that this is his birthday, even if he was crowned on April 30 also. So last Saturday April 26 we had our first Kingsday. Continue reading “Open Air Boutique on Kingsday”
Every year I look at the weather on April 25th to see what it’s like, what it feels like and if it stays the same during the day. Why? Because of something the character Cheryl Frasier, played by Heather Burns, said in Miss Congeniality when during the Miss United States pageant she was asked to describe her favorite date. “April 25th. Because it’s not too hot and it’s not too cold. All you need is a light jacket”, was her answer. True that, because every year on april 25th the weather is like that. Really all you need is a light jacket.
Exactly one year ago today the Rana Plaza building in Bangladesh collapsed taking 1.138 lives, and 140 are still unaccounted for. After this disaster we’ve learned that there were certain western brands that had their clothing manufactured there. One of them who was completely honest about that was Primark. Today I would like to take the time to honor the memory of the people who lost their lives and send my best to all the survivors and families of the dead workers.
It’s the ultimate combination when you want to be very chique and classy when you’re going out. Whether it is to a party, a club or an event. Black and Gold! It never gets old. This combination is timeless, fabulous and suits everyone. I love it so much. Every time I wear this fashion combo I feel like the true Diva I am. And I am. Always need to look my best, feel my best and be my best. Cause if you look good you feel good. No matter if it’s spring, summer, fall or winter, I’d say get your black and gold on. Last weekend on saturday and this weekend on saturday I had a birthday party to attend to. At both party’s I did the black and gold. I like to share some pictures with you here. Two weeks ago I found my renewed love for Primark and went for a little shopping at Primark Almere that weekend. Like I promised in my post “My renewed love for Primark” I would do a haul of the things I purchased. Today I finally took the pictures of everything I got the day I found my love for Primark again. In my firts haul I give you my first big Primark purchase.
In Europe most of us know and love Primark, especially for their low prices. It is the perfect store for fashionistas on a budget. Because I wasn’t the biggest fan of Primark at the beginning (See post “My first experiences with Primark”) I wasn’t very excited to find out that there was finally going to be a store in my city Almere in november 2012. And I most certainly didn’t plan to visit that store in the first week, let along the first day which was 12-12-2012. That would be hell with the massive crowd.
My first visit to a Primark store was in june 2011, in the city Hoofddorp, Netherlands. I’ve heard about this store where you can buy great fashion for very low prices. But back then Primark wasn’t in my city yet. The day I visited Primark was actually a day that I had a promotion gig for Lipton Ice Tea in the centre of Hoofddorp. Every once in a while a do these projects for A class brands. So that day after work was done my colleagues decided to go shopping at Primark and, since I’ve never been and was curious about it, I decided to join them.
