Paramaribo (87)

Here it is my dears. Finally! After sharing a few of my I Love Su outfits, showing you that Paramaribo is a fashion city, telling you about the I Love Su fashion gear and blogging about independence day, I know many of you must have waited for this one. Paramaribo. Yes. PARAMARIBO! In this post I’m going to introduce you to the city I was born and raised in, which I’ve always been so proud to tell you guys about. No matter where I go, I always represent my country Suriname and I am very proud to be from Paramaribo, the capital of Suriname. Like I always say, never forget where you come from. Sporting I Love Su and a fro in Ibiza

Ibiza Su 13 Collage

In these cold winter times it’s always fun to look back at those warm sunny vacations you had in the past. Even though winter has his charms, I’m a sunshine loving girl who will pick a cocktail under a palm tree vacay anytime. But giving the fact that I just recently had a mini break in Barcelona and not going anywhere now, at least not in the next few weeks, I wanted to take this time and look back on some of my sunny trips in the recent past. Rocking I Love Su in Barcelona

I Love Su in Barcelona

As you could read in my previous posts, I took a little trip to Barcelona last month to celebrate my birthday. It was nothing too fancy and I spend the day with a small group. Since I’ve been celebrating my birthday for years in the autumn time here in the cold, I couldn’t let the opportunity of going to the beach in October pass me by. So that’s where we headed after a nice lunch, I was wearing my new Denim & Co dress and sunglasses. How amazing it was to have a sunny birthday after all these years. True to myself, I had Italian for dinner at a nice restaurant called Little Italy. Pictures of my birthday can be found on my Instagram.   Continue reading “Rocking I Love Su in Barcelona”

20140705_152220

Happy Sunday everybody. Hopefully you guys enjoyed your weekend, cause I did, and I’ll tell you about this weekend soon. Today I would like to introduce you to a new series that I’m starting on the blog, which is called Travel Diary. In these diaries I will share photos of the cities and places I went recently or in the past (to give you a little throwback) since I like to travel, and give you an idea of places you can go also, if you know these places already you might discover new things to do on a next visit. Depending on how much you like the series, I will do this more often. Kicking it off with a place in Belgium called Lier, which I visited last month with family, as we went on an organised bus trip. Putting some Reggae in to it

AMS Reggae Festival (2)

The weekend before the Keti Koti Festival I went to another festival in Amsterdam where it was all about good reggae music. The first edition of the Amsterdam Reggae Village, an indoor festival in the Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam Southeast. A friend of mine actually invited me on Facebook to join this event. Still in Jamaica mode after my trip, I was very thrilled to read about it, and visited the website immediately. As a reggae lover I couldn’t miss the first edition of this reggae festival and of course said yes to the invitation.  Continue reading “Putting some Reggae in to it”

Representing Paramaribo City in Kingston

Represent Parbo (3)

On my last day in Kingston I wanted to wear something casual and simple, as we would be out for the whole day, and finally visit downtown Kingston. And what better way to do that than the famous combination of jeans and a t-shirt. Besides that I wanted to go out and represent a little. One of my motto’s in life is that you always have to know where you come from to know where you go. Never forget who you are. The best way for me to represent was to wear one of my favorite shirts from the I Love Su brand. The shirt that has the name of the City that I was born and raised in: Paramaribo. How I celebrated the first day of summer

Summerday 9

While sitting here ending this weekend with a cold cosmopolitan, I wanted to tell you about how I spent the first day of summer 2014. Like I told you in my previous post Happy first day of summer, I always wear a new summer dress on june 21 to celebrate the kick off of the summer season, I also added a picture of the dress. And when I wear a new dress I want to go somewhere special or do something special. After being at home most of the day, watching a few episodes of the series Awkward on MTV and working on my laptop, I wanted to take it outside to celebrate summer and wear my new dress. So I did. Continue reading “How I celebrated the first day of summer”

Breaking in my Versace leggings in Jamaica

Hellshire Beach june 12 1

What is the first thing you want to do when you’re on an island? Well…? Yes, that’s right. Going to the beach and enjoying the view, the white sand, the blue water, the clear blue sky and of course the sun. So that’s the first thing we tried to do on our first whole day on the Island of Jamaica. I say tried because that is exactly what we did.  Continue reading “Breaking in my Versace leggings in Jamaica”

Happy first day of Summer

Yes! It’s Summertime, my favorite season of the year. Sunshine, colorful dresses, bright nail polish, skirts, shorts, tank tops, flip-flops, sandals and shades. Just a few of my favorite items to wear during summertime. Every year I wear a new summer dress on the 21 of June to celebrate the official kick off the Summer Season. This year is no different. I Love SU fashion line at Dresscode in Paramaribo

IMG-20140205-02198

The I love.. shirts are a fashion phenomenon and nowadays has become an integral part of casual street wear around the world. Most of you know the many I <3.. shirts of different cities like A’DAM, Berlin, London, Paris, Milan, Roma, Barcelona, Stockholm, NY, LA, Miami, Montreal, Tokyo and so on. In Suriname, where I’m from, there is the I Love SU fashion line and merchandise. While I’m not here to explain to you the history and demographics of Suriname, I can tell you that the population is not even close to one million citizens. Most people live in the capital city Paramaribo, and when there is talk about life in Suriname or going to Suriname it usually is about Paramaribo, but in general people speak of Su (short for Suriname). It is not like, for example, the United States or Spain (because of the big cities), that there is a I Love.. clothing line for almost every city. No, in small populated Suriname, like I said, they speak of Su. That is basically the history behind the choice of the name I Love SU. It’s April 25: All you need is a light jacket

Every year I look at the weather on April 25th to see what it’s like, what it feels like and if it stays the same during the day. Why? Because of something the character Cheryl Frasier, played by Heather Burns, said in Miss Congeniality when during the Miss United States pageant she was asked to describe her favorite date. “April 25th. Because it’s not too hot and it’s not too cold. All you need is a light jacket”, was her answer. True that, because every year on april 25th the weather is like that. Really all you need is a light jacket.
