Good evening y’all. And what a good evening it is indeed. Weekend is near and I am so thrilled about that since it’s going to be the weekend of the Africa Fashion Week in Amsterdam (AFWA 2014), which I will attend and am so excited about. Tomorrow I’m going to look for an outfit in the stores. But tonight I want to give you a quick throwback just as I did last week with a Flashback Friday post.

Travel Diary: An afternoon in Lier, Belgium

20140705_152220

Happy Sunday everybody. Hopefully you guys enjoyed your weekend, cause I did, and I’ll tell you about this weekend soon. Today I would like to introduce you to a new series that I’m starting on the blog, which is called Travel Diary. In these diaries I will share photos of the cities and places I went recently or in the past (to give you a little throwback) since I like to travel, and give you an idea of places you can go also, if you know these places already you might discover new things to do on a next visit. Depending on how much you like the series, I will do this more often. Kicking it off with a place in Belgium called Lier, which I visited last month with family, as we went on an organised bus trip. How to get by on a budget in Kingston, Jamaica

Jamaica 2014

This year I had the pleasure to visit Kingston, Jamaica as I told you in a few posts now. If you’ve been following this blog for a while now, you know exactly when and why I was there. If not, you can read it in this post. From my own experience I can say that life in Kingston, Jamaica can be quite expensive. Now if you’re planning to go on vacation in Kingston on a budget, I’d like to give you some tips that might help you out on how to get by. Downtown Kingston is not downtown Manhattan

20140616_171253

One of the things I really wanted to do while in Kingston, Jamaica was visiting downtown Kingston. From day one the locals told me that it wasn’t what I may picture in my head. “Downtown Kingston is not like downtown Manhattan where you can walk down the street in your high heels with your designer purse”, is what I was told by the local we were staying at. “It’s rough”. No matter how rough it might be, I am a Caribbean girl also, so how much more rough can it be than downtown Paramaribo, Suriname I thought. Before my time in Kingston was up, I wanted to visit downtown Kingston and see it for myself. So on my last day in Kingston I did. Continue reading “Downtown Kingston is not downtown Manhattan”

How I experienced the CFW 2014 fashion shows in Kingston

DSC_0096

The Caribbean Fashion Week 2014 in Kingston, Jamaica was the first international Fashion Week I’ve been to and therefore it’s definitely going in my Fashion History Book. It was a pleasure and honor to be there as one of the media to capture this event from the frontline for Dy Muñeca the Caribbean Fashion Spot. Like I told you before in this post about CFW, I was there as a part of the Caribbean Fashion Spot. That’s why I talk about “we” in my Jamaica posts. My biggest role at the Caribbean Fashion Week shows was that of photographer. In this post I will share my experience of being photographer, visitor and fashionista at the same time. Representing Paramaribo City in Kingston

Represent Parbo (3)

On my last day in Kingston I wanted to wear something casual and simple, as we would be out for the whole day, and finally visit downtown Kingston. And what better way to do that than the famous combination of jeans and a t-shirt. Besides that I wanted to go out and represent a little. One of my motto’s in life is that you always have to know where you come from to know where you go. Never forget who you are. The best way for me to represent was to wear one of my favorite shirts from the I Love Su brand. The shirt that has the name of the City that I was born and raised in: Paramaribo. Caribbean Fashion Week 2014 in Kingston, Jamaica

CFW 2014 Jamaica

The reason I went to Jamaica was to attend the 14th edition of the Caribbean Fashion Week 2014 as a part of Dy Muñeca The Caribbean Fashion Spot. As the PR Executive (including photographer) and fashion & lifestyle editor I had to be there to capture this great event, meet designers, network, and just experience the Caribbean Fashion World.  Continue reading “Caribbean Fashion Week 2014 in Kingston, Jamaica”

My first day in Kingston, Jamaica

20140611_182432

In my previous post I told you about how we tried to visit the beach on the first day, but that didn’t went as we thought it would. Well the day wasn’t a total loss. Although we were at the Half Way Tree bus terminal for almost 1,5 hours walking, searching, asking for directions and waiting for the bus without any luck, we did do something while already outside. We walked a little around Half Way Tree, visited the Pavilion Mall and then ended up at Sovereign Centre in Liguanea. Continue reading “My first day in Kingston, Jamaica”

Breaking in my Versace leggings in Jamaica

Hellshire Beach june 12 1

What is the first thing you want to do when you’re on an island? Well…? Yes, that’s right. Going to the beach and enjoying the view, the white sand, the blue water, the clear blue sky and of course the sun. So that’s the first thing we tried to do on our first whole day on the Island of Jamaica. I say tried because that is exactly what we did.  Continue reading “Breaking in my Versace leggings in Jamaica”

Plog: My first impressions of Kingston

Like I did with my first impressions of Atlanta, this is also a pictures only post of my first impressions of Kingston. Hope you enjoy these ass well. Starting with the first view of Jamaica taken from my window seat in the airplane, followed by a few boards on the wall at the airport upon arrival, which I really like. Then I have some shots of the first day and what food I had then, and some photos of the neighbourhood where I was in Kingston 5, in suburban Mona. While you all are looking at these photos I’m back in the Netherlands safe and sound.  Continue reading “Plog: My first impressions of Kingston”

Plog: My first impressions of Atlanta

Atlanta0

By now I am already in Jamaica as you may understand from my last post. Before landing in Kingston I had a transfer in Atlanta, Georgia. Due to custom check ups I didn’t have much time to walk around the airport and outside. This is what I was able to capture. In this plog I give you my first impressions of Atlanta (ATL) with pictures only. Continue reading “Plog: My first impressions of Atlanta”
