Successful casting call for the Caribbean Fashion Show

Casting Call CFS (5)

In my special post of ten days ago I was talking about the model casting call of Caribbean Fashion Spot for the upcoming Caribbean Fashion Show during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Amsterdam. This casting day was held on Saturday, April 4 at South East in Amsterdam Southeast and was very successful, much to our content. Over 70 models came to our casting call, some with lots of runway experience, some with experience in photoshoots and add campaigns, some with a combination of everything and some with no modelling experience at all, but a very good motivation. All candidates that are worth to be considered for the job. Continue reading “Successful casting call for the Caribbean Fashion Show”

MBFWA F/W 2015: Attending Aziz Bekkaoui

20150123_181138

Here I am again with another MBFWA post and this time it’s a report of the first catwalk show I visited at the Fashion Week: Aziz Bekkaoui. As it was my first time at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Amsterdam, I really enjoyed watching all the people who came all dressed up at the event. From your regular fashionista till famous Dutch personalities. It was a show where visitors of every role in the fashion industry were present. Interested fashion buyers, stylists, fashion magazine editors, fashion bloggers, fashion journalists, photographers and even tv station E! Entertainment was present to film a special ‘E! Live From The Red Carpet’.  Continue reading “MBFWA F/W 2015: Attending Aziz Bekkaoui”

20150123_202916

The 22nd edition of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Amsterdam (MBFWA) is a fact. It was a wonderful fashion event that included 5 days of catwalk shows by talented and popular Dutch fashion designers at Transformatorhuis at the Westergasterrein in Amsterdam. Lucky me got to see two catwalk shows and was invited to one of the events of the Zalando 10 Days Downtown program. Besides all the different Fashion Weeks across the globe, it is one of the highlights of the year for many fashion freaks. Of course I’m talking about the luxury lingerie show of all times: The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. This year held for the first time in the British capital London instead of New York, it was also a breathtaking show with amazing creations, gorgeous styling and lean sexy super models. First ever Caribbean Fashion Show in Barcelona, Spain

Caribbean Fashion Show Shoko

The first Caribbean Fashion Show organised by Dy Muñeca the Caribbean Fashion Spot is a fact. On Sunday October 12, a Caribbean fashion showcase was held in a beautiful venue near the Barceloneta beach called Shoko. As the PR Executive of Dy Muñeca the Caribbean Fashion Spot, I was very proud of our first fashion show, given the work of CEO and founder Dymuñeca. She picked the designers, put together a group of models – mostly of Caribbean descent -, put together the runway looks and produced the show. Chapeau! It was the first ever Caribbean fashion show in Europe. Continue reading “First ever Caribbean Fashion Show in Barcelona, Spain”

Fashionistas at AFWA 2014

AFWA Fashionistas

Where there’s fashion week, there are the fashionistas. All dressed up and ready to go. At the first edition of Africa Fashion Week Amsterdam, held last month at the World Fashion Centre (WFC), it was not any different. Since it was all about African fashion you can imagine that most of these fashionistas pulled out their African ensembles to show off at the event and pose in front of the wall of fame. Of course I couldn’t resist getting these fabulous African inspired outfits on camera and took some snap shots of my favourite ones spotted on day 1 and day to of AFWA 2014. Dope street style at Kwaku Summer Festival in Amsterdam

Kwaku Podium

Kwaku Summer Festival is an annual Surinamese themed summer festival that is being held in Amsterdam Southeast (The Bijlmer) for a few weekends, on Saturday on Sunday, in a row. This used to be six weekends, but this year the festival was open for five weekends. From July 12 – August 10, visitors of Kwaku were able to enjoy good music, entertainment, shopping at different booths and of course good Surinamese food, and lots of it. Typical Surinamese dishes, snacks, pastry, drinks (Parbo Bier) and desserts are yours for the choosing. And a lot of BBQ. If you want a taste of the Surinamese culture Kwaku is the place to be. At Kwaku you can experience a little bit of Suriname without actually taking that trip all the way to South America. Besides Surinamese food and other Caribbean food, there is also African food and Dutch food and since it’s summer time you can find fresh tropical fruits and fruit juices at several fruit booths. Highlights of AFWA 2014 fashion shows day 2

20140831_200617

Day two of Africa Fashion Week Amsterdam in World Fashion Centre was more glitter and glamour since it was the day of the Gala Show.  This meant various fashion shows with beautiful designs of the more upscale African designers, of which you could see the difference with day one. Before the fashion shows started there were some speeches that didn’t go entirely as planned, leaving the presenter to improvise which he did well. After that the doors to the runway area were closed for the preparation of the first two fashion shows and there was time for a network and photo break. Then it was Gala Show time. Plog: The Marc Jacobs Tweet shop in Amsterdam

MJDaisyChainAMS (12)

Good evening everyone this time from my lovely bed. Last week I told you that the Marc Jacobs Tweet shop would be at de Bijenkorf in Amsterdam for the promotion of the new women fragrance Daisy Dream. This was a four day promo from Thu. Aug 14 – Sun. Aug 17 where you had to tweet about the promo using the hashtag #MJDaisyChainAMS and would get a free Marc Jacobs sample, or item if you used a photo in your tweet. On Friday August 15 I visited the Tweet shop to check out this promo and get some goodies myself. Continue reading “Plog: The Marc Jacobs Tweet shop in Amsterdam”

Party Plog: Bo Monde, a party for beautiful people

Bo Monde Juni 2014

In my previous posts you’ve seen me at the Keti Koti Festival in Amsterdam and the Amsterdam Reggae Village. In this post we’re staying on the topic of great events in Amsterdam. While you’ve seen me in my Reggae outfit at the reggae festival, I was sporting a more chique look at a party the night before: Bo Monde. This is a party you can attend by invitation only with an elite touch to it, which I came across on Facebook before its second edition. Since I’d missed the chance of being at the second edition due to a rather late request ( I imagine), I wanted to be there for the third edition. This time I got myself invited.
