Good evening from my cosy couch. While I’m on the topic of events these past days, I wanted to share the look I was sporting at another event this summer. Only this time we’re taking it to Rotterdam instead of Amsterdam. Just like you might have seen I’m spending quite a lot of time in Amsterdam, visiting events and festivals, but not so much in Rotterdam. Well what can I say. I Love Amsterdam! But once a year I clear my schedule till early in the evening for my favorite event of the summer. The Summer Carnaval. As a Caribbean/ South American girl, music, dancing, parades and good food is in my blood. Like every year you could find me in Rotterdam for the Summer Carnaval, which was exactly a month ago today. Putting some Reggae in to it

The weekend before the Keti Koti Festival I went to another festival in Amsterdam where it was all about good reggae music. The first edition of the Amsterdam Reggae Village, an indoor festival in the Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam Southeast. A friend of mine actually invited me on Facebook to join this event. Still in Jamaica mode after my trip, I was very thrilled to read about it, and visited the website immediately. As a reggae lover I couldn’t miss the first edition of this reggae festival and of course said yes to the invitation.  Continue reading “Putting some Reggae in to it”

Lets get wild at Keti Koti Festival with Sonia Noel

On July first the Surinamese people celebrate the abolition of Slavery in Suriname. This is a very big celebration in Suriname and a National Holiday. In the Netherlands there are also celebrations of this historic occurrence for all the Surinamese people who live here. Little history class: Suriname was a colony of the Netherlands and became independent on November 25, 1975. That day is our very own Independence Day, our 4th of July. But that’s a whole nother story. On July 1st we celebrate the emancipation of our black ancestors and our freedom. The biggest celebration is the Keti Koti Festival in Amsterdam at Oosterpark, a big park in Amsterdam East. On this day I couldn’t think of anything better to wear then a piece by one of my favorite Caribbean designers, a powerful black woman, the very talented miss Sonia Noel. Representing Paramaribo City in Kingston

On my last day in Kingston I wanted to wear something casual and simple, as we would be out for the whole day, and finally visit downtown Kingston. And what better way to do that than the famous combination of jeans and a t-shirt. Besides that I wanted to go out and represent a little. One of my motto’s in life is that you always have to know where you come from to know where you go. Never forget who you are. The best way for me to represent was to wear one of my favorite shirts from the I Love Su brand. The shirt that has the name of the City that I was born and raised in: Paramaribo. How I celebrated the first day of summer

While sitting here ending this weekend with a cold cosmopolitan, I wanted to tell you about how I spent the first day of summer 2014. Like I told you in my previous post Happy first day of summer, I always wear a new summer dress on june 21 to celebrate the kick off of the summer season, I also added a picture of the dress. And when I wear a new dress I want to go somewhere special or do something special. After being at home most of the day, watching a few episodes of the series Awkward on MTV and working on my laptop, I wanted to take it outside to celebrate summer and wear my new dress. Black and Gold never gets old

It’s the ultimate combination when you want to be very chique and classy when you’re going out. Whether it is to a party, a club or an event. Black and Gold! It never gets old. This combination is timeless, fabulous and suits everyone. I love it so much. Every time I wear this fashion combo I feel like the true Diva I am. And I am. Always need to look my best, feel my best and be my best. Cause if you look good you feel good. No matter if it’s spring, summer, fall or winter, I’d say get your black and gold on. Last weekend on saturday and this weekend on saturday I had a birthday party to attend to. At both party’s I did the black and gold. I like to share some pictures with you here.
