When it comes to accessories the scarf is by far one of my favorites. It’s almost like I’m obsessed with buying and collecting scarves. Even when I’m outside, I find myself staring at other people’s scarves wondering where they got it from. Today I like to show you how I used one of my favorite scarves as the main accessory in two different ways last fall/ winter season. The casual way wearing jeans and the fancy way wearing a dress. What can one do to give an outfit two different looks when going outside the door? That’s simple, just change a jacket for a coat. These two looks I shot last fall/winter season, but I haven’t got around to share it back then, so I thought why not now. It’s the winter season again and these looks are still very much up to date and I guess they will be years from now. Mainly because of two reasons: the faux leather jacket and the trench coat. Throw these on a classic denim and a sweater outfit and you have two looks that will never go out of style. Continue reading “Same outfit, two looks”
Two weeks ago I went on a one day road trip to Knokke with a friend. As the summer was almost coming to an end and I haven’t been abroad since Jamaica, I was feeling spontaneous. So I called up my friend early in the morning to see if she would share my spontaneity and she did. There we were on our way with drinks and snacks for our almost 3 hour road trip with background music and an open rooftop. Halfway we made a pit stop and I had a cheat eat at McDonald’s of which I shared a photo on Instagram. We made it to Knokke around a few minutes past five in the afternoon. It’s official. The summer of 2014 is over. Done, past and gone. It;s time to slowly store away our summer wardrobe, the flip-flops, bikini’s, sun hats and sunscreens (unless you’re going to a tropical Island, Lucky you) and search for those knits and boots again. As sad as I am that my favourite season is over, just as happy I am that it’s now fall :). … Continue reading Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn
Good evening y’all. And what a good evening it is indeed. Weekend is near and I am so thrilled about that since it’s going to be the weekend of the Africa Fashion Week in Amsterdam (AFWA 2014), which I will attend and am so excited about. Tomorrow I’m going to look for an outfit in the stores. But tonight I want to give you a quick throwback just as I did last week with a Flashback Friday post. Now I’m not planning to do this every week yet, but you’re going to see some flashback/ throwback outfits every now and then. For this Throwback Thursday I choose two looks to show you how you can easily switch up your outfit from daytime to a similar look at night. Here I’m sticking to denim and gold. The Amsterdam Denim Days 204 are a fact. Of course I had to be there to witness this event that was held for the first time in the Netherlands. On Saturday May 10 I visited the second day of Blueprint at Westergasfabriek, the event for the public, with my mom. Like always I took lots of pictures. In this post I’ll show you part 1 . Last year on this date, April 30, it was the last Queensday in the Netherlands. On this day, April 30 2013, the crown prince Willem Alexander was crowned King of the Netherlands, meaning the national holiday Queensday is now Kingsday. The difference is that the date April 30 we were all used to for decades is now changed to April 26. This is because April 30 was the birthday of the late former Queen Juliana, and also the date her daughter, crown princess Beatrix at that time and now former Queen Beatrix, was crowned Queen of the Netherlands. Queen Beatrix kept the tradition of the national holiday Queensday on April 30. But since King Willem Alexander is crowned, this holiday is changed to April 26, given the fact that this is his birthday, even if he was crowned on April 30 also. So last Saturday April 26 we had our first Kingsday. Continue reading “Open Air Boutique on Kingsday”
Like I promised in the previous post I would give you a plog of the Grand opening of Forever 21 Amsterdam, which took place this Saturday April 19. It was a very sunny day in Amsterdam. As I walked towards Rokin where the Forever 21 store is located I already noticed how crowded it was in the city, lots of tourists, some in little groups or families, walking around with their camera. There was a carnival like there always is in the spring time on Dam Square and it seemed like everyone was having a good time. On my way I couldn’t help myself to take some pictures to show you on what kind of day Forever 21 has opened its doors. Continue reading “Plog: Grand opening Forever 21 Amsterdam”
JLO is back and she is looking as fashionable and stylish as ever. With her new music video “I luh ya papi” the 44-year-old actress/singer is looking like a hot 20 something old. Remember the infamous Versace gown she wore at the Grammy Awards in 2000? In this video her stylists channeled the most talked about dress of that year.
For some people it is a combination that is not done: denim on denim. But as the catwalks showed back in spring 2010 it is indeed a bold combination. And this Spring 2014, this fashion trend is claiming his spot again on the Streets.
