It’s that time of the year again. Next weekend the annual Huishoudbeurs (Household Fair) in Amsterdam will open its doors again. It is the biggest lifestyle fair in the Netherlands focused on women, where everything from and in between food, fashion, beauty, health, home and luxury goods come together. The perfect day out with your girlfriends, cousins, sisters, neighbours or colleagues. If he is up for it, you can even take your boyfriend or husband ladies. Monday Inspiration: Always stay gracious

The inspiration for today comes from none other than the Queen Bey herself. All the Beyoncé fans out there have already seen the music video of her new single Formation, where she makes great political statements, but also takes on back lash and haters. In life we all gonna deal with haters, but the best thing is to rise above it all and keep going. Remember that teacher who said you’re not gonna make it far in this lifetime or that recruiter who told you that you’re just not suited for that role? Let’s follow that advice from Bey. New blog look – Under Construction

New years call for new beginnings as most people say. Just like I talked about in my New Year post, I decided to also give the blog a new beginning. Meaning a new theme with a look that is more modern and simple, more me. With this look you can easily scroll through blog posts by reading the blog post titles and clicking the posts that you want to read. No more unnecessary stuff on the blog but just the basics, so it can be more about the content. The menu is the same as it was before with drop downs of fashion, beauty, lifestyle and videos. New year, new beginnings

Peaceful beach

Oh my, how time flies. These last couple of months have been nothing more than hard work for me. Just to keep my mind of the tragedy of losing my father. Ever since this tragic event, I have not written anything new from myself to you guys. Working was the thing to keep me from sitting around and being sad, that in this process I have spent most of my time doing things I didn’t really like. Eventually, all this hard work was sucking the energy out of my body. On top of that I found out that all this time I’ve spent working, has kept me from actually grieving and letting the loss sink in. There was never really a time for me. At this moment I realized that I had to stop doing this to myself, before my body was going to turn against me. Continue reading “New year, new beginnings”

Happy 40 year “Srefidensi” for Suriname

Srefidensi 40 jaar

Today Suriname and Surinamese people around the globe celebrate 40 years of independence, in the Surinamese language known as “Srefidensi”. On this 40 year Srefidensi we celebrate our independence from the Netherlands. Being out here in the cold of the Netherlands, I can only imagine the celebrations that are going on across the Atlantic down there in Suriname, especially in Paramaribo, the capital city. Monday Inspiration: Keep going

After being away a few weeks, I now have a new inspiration post for you. It is a video message that was posted in my “Caribbean Fashion Bloggers” Facebook group by one of the members and it immediately spoke to me, especially in my particular situation. This one goes out to everyone and, without saying, to myself. Watch and learn why.   Video of the week:   Have … Continue reading Monday Inspiration: Keep going

Hello my dear readers and followers. Hopefully you all are doing fine. Me? Just taking things day by day. It’s been a little quiet here for some time hasn’t it? Yes, I know it’s been a while since I posted something on the blog. The truth is, I was just not up for it yet after everything that happened all these past weeks since I lost my father. Thought I was, but I was wrong. Continue reading “It’s been a while..”
