Breaking in my Versace leggings in Jamaica

Hellshire Beach june 12 1

What is the first thing you want to do when you’re on an island? Well…? Yes, that’s right. Going to the beach and enjoying the view, the white sand, the blue water, the clear blue sky and of course the sun. So that’s the first thing we tried to do on our first whole day on the Island of Jamaica. I say tried because that is exactly what we did.  Continue reading “Breaking in my Versace leggings in Jamaica”

Happy first day of Summer

20140612_161120

Yes! It’s Summertime, my favorite season of the year. Sunshine, colorful dresses, bright nail polish, skirts, shorts, tank tops, flip-flops, sandals and shades. Just a few of my favorite items to wear during summertime. Every year I wear a new summer dress on the 21 of June to celebrate the official kick off the Summer Season. This year is no different. IMG-20140205-02198

The I love.. shirts are a fashion phenomenon and nowadays has become an integral part of casual street wear around the world. Most of you know the many I <3.. shirts of different cities like A’DAM, Berlin, London, Paris, Milan, Roma, Barcelona, Stockholm, NY, LA, Miami, Montreal, Tokyo and so on. In Suriname, where I’m from, there is the I Love SU fashion line and merchandise. While I’m not here to explain to you the history and demographics of Suriname, I can tell you that the population is not even close to one million citizens. Most people live in the capital city Paramaribo, and when there is talk about life in Suriname or going to Suriname it usually is about Paramaribo, but in general people speak of Su (short for Suriname). It is not like, for example, the United States or Spain (because of the big cities), that there is a I Love.. clothing line for almost every city. No, in small populated Suriname, like I said, they speak of Su. That is basically the history behind the choice of the name I Love SU. But first let me take a selfie

IMG-20140124-00912

A bunch of crazy silly selfies, made in Suriname this year in January. It was my first real night of clubbing! I needed a nice dress to go with my curlies and pink lipstick. That same day I went shopping at Maretraite Mall and came back home with a peplum one I got at Dojo Couture. It was my first, and yet only, peplum dress. Paramaribo a Fashion City

IMG-20140122-00792

In January this year, due to family circumstances, I went to Suriname. After one emotional week it was also time to enjoy the country and the big city: Paramaribo. As always I look for inspiration wherever I go. Last summer I was there also and I came back very inspired. This year I went out again to see what Paramaribo has to offer when it comes to fashion. If you think that Paramaribo is not a fashion city think again! Surinamese people love fashion and always try their best to look their best, and dress up to the fullest when they go out. In his post I like to share Paramaribo from a fashion point of view. Continue reading “Paramaribo a Fashion City”

It’s April 25: All you need is a light jacket

Every year I look at the weather on April 25th to see what it’s like, what it feels like and if it stays the same during the day. Why? Because of something the character Cheryl Frasier, played by Heather Burns, said in Miss Congeniality when during the Miss United States pageant she was asked to describe her favorite date. “April 25th. Because it’s not too hot and it’s not too cold. All you need is a light jacket”, was her answer. True that, because every year on april 25th the weather is like that. Really all you need is a light jacket.
