Happy Independence Day Suriname

Srefidensi_SurinameHiep Hiep Hooray!!! Today Suriname and Surinamese people celebrates the 39th Independence Day. On November 25, 1975 there was the day that we were no longer in the hands of the Netherlands, the Dutch people, and paved our own way as an independent country in South America. It is no secret that I was born and raised in Paramaribo, Suriname. Just like the Americans are patriotic about their USA, I am a patriot for my beloved Suriname, as you may noticed in my many outfits posts wearing my I love SU shirts no matter where I go, because I believe you must always be proud of where you come from. Yemi-Alade-Tangerine-post

After Africa Fashion Week Amsterdam (AFWA 2014) I am so in the spirit of African fashion and African music, that while googling for Diana Tambe, the founder of AFWA, I stumbled on a music video by Yemi Alade. A beautiful 25 year old singer from Nigeria. This music video captured my attention right away. First thing I noticed: her outfits! Love it. And of course the song is nice too, it’s got that swinging African beat that makes you feel happy and wanna dance. Miss Yemi has got herself a new fan. You can imagine that I had to find out more about this Nigerian beauty and fashionista. Yemi was even a talked about topic on the Google hangout of USA’s first lady Michelle Obama and featured on MTV.com, so you know her music must be good. If you love the Afro dance movement, just watch. Continue reading “Fashionable African singer Yemi Alade”

My biggest role at the Caribbean Fashion Week shows was that of photographer. In this post I will share my experience of being photographer, visitor and fashionista at the same time. Oh, well when I’m in the UK or USA I will visit this store because they have great fashion pieces. I like it, I wanna see more. Men, why isn’t this shop here? Bummer! All this was going through my mind when I saw their fashion for the first time. Just two days ago I found out that Topshop is also in the Netherlands. That is the moment when I googled Topshop and read that there is a store in the Netherlands indeed. Continue reading “My Topshop discovery”

If it’s in, it’s on the Fabulist..One more night!

The Fabulist

For a few weeks now the commercial has aired on E! Entertainment. If it’s in, it’s on the Fabulist! Premiers Monday March 31 only on E! My curiosity was running wild at first to know what The Fabulist was. Just three days ago my curiosity was a little satisfied when they revealed that it is a trend forecasting television series hosted by Kristin Cavallari and Orly Shani. Although I am reading a lot of mixed messages about when the show will air, it seems like it’s already started in some countries (USA). But for those living in the Netherlands at least the show will première on monday March 31st. Continue reading “If it’s in, it’s on the Fabulist..One more night!”
