Throwback Thursday: My army three-piece swimsuit

Before I share all  the posts about Barcelona and my birthday last month, I wanted to give you a throw back to six years ago in the summer time. It was the weekend of the annual reggae summer festival Reggae Sundance in Eersel, Netherlands. For that weekend I was staying with a small group at 4 star hotel NH Geldrop, not far from the festival. They have a wonderful pool and jacuzzi at this hotel and of course I had to take me a little dip in both. Continue reading “Throwback Thursday: My army three-piece swimsuit”

Putting some Reggae in to it

AMS Reggae Festival (2)

The weekend before the Keti Koti Festival I went to another festival in Amsterdam where it was all about good reggae music. The first edition of the Amsterdam Reggae Village, an indoor festival in the Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam Southeast. A friend of mine actually invited me on Facebook to join this event. Still in Jamaica mode after my trip, I was very thrilled to read about it, and visited the website immediately. As a reggae lover I couldn’t miss the first edition of this reggae festival and of course said yes to the invitation.  Continue reading “Putting some Reggae in to it”

Lets get wild at Keti Koti Festival with Sonia Noel

First Resort by Sonia Noel (7)

On July first the Surinamese people celebrate the abolition of Slavery in Suriname. This is a very big celebration in Suriname and a National Holiday. In the Netherlands there are also celebrations of this historic occurrence for all the Surinamese people who live here. Little history class: Suriname was a colony of the Netherlands and became independent on November 25, 1975. That day is our very own Independence Day, our 4th of July. But that’s a whole nother story. On July 1st we celebrate the emancipation of our black ancestors and our freedom. The biggest celebration is the Keti Koti Festival in Amsterdam at Oosterpark, a big park in Amsterdam East. On this day I couldn’t think of anything better to wear then a piece by one of my favorite Caribbean designers, a powerful black woman, the very talented miss Sonia Noel. Representing Paramaribo City in Kingston

Represent Parbo (3)

On my last day in Kingston I wanted to wear something casual and simple, as we would be out for the whole day, and finally visit downtown Kingston. And what better way to do that than the famous combination of jeans and a t-shirt. Besides that I wanted to go out and represent a little. One of my motto’s in life is that you always have to know where you come from to know where you go. Never forget who you are. The best way for me to represent was to wear one of my favorite shirts from the I Love Su brand. The shirt that has the name of the City that I was born and raised in: Paramaribo. Flashback Friday: Welcome to Jamrock 2011

Sometimes it’s nice to dress the theme of the party where you’re going. As a Surinamese girl I love listening to dancehall & reggae and I visit the nr 1 party in that category in the Netherlands: Jamrock. In 2011 there was a ladies theme so I decided to dress up for this event and paint my nails with the Jamaican Flag. Welcome to Jamrock! … Continue reading Flashback Friday: Welcome to Jamrock 2011

Flashback Friday: Barcelona 2011

Flashback Barcelona waterfall

Today I would like to give you a sneak peek at some personal photo’s of myself in a flashback from 2011 in Barcelona. See my favorite black shiny jacket that I’ve lost last year summertime, in a 4 star hotel in Amsterdam and never found back. The very next day that I left it in the restaurant by accident I called and it was gone. Shame! But luckily I will always have these pictures. Continue reading “Flashback Friday: Barcelona 2011”
