What can one do to give an outfit two different looks when going outside the door? That’s simple, just change a jacket for a coat. These two looks I shot last fall/winter season, but I haven’t got around to share it back then, so I thought why not now. It’s the winter season again and these looks are still very much up to date and I guess they will be years from now. Mainly because of two reasons: the faux leather jacket and the trench coat. Winter is officially here. December 21, the shortest day of the year and I must say that it is true. This morning I waited to see what time the sun would rise or better said what time it would be daylight, because there was actually no sign of the sun today. Nothing, nada. At least not here in my city. About 9:15 it was daylight and about 15:45 it was already time for sunset. Really the shortest day, but still enjoyable. This season chunky boots are making a comeback. Everywhere you look these shoes are present. Last week, while looking for a birthday dress in downtown Amsterdam, I came across some very cool ones at River Island. You can get them in different colours but mostly in black, with or without cutouts, or straps. The chunky boots are very trending right now and the perfect pair of shoes for fall/winter. Last year on this date, April 30, it was the last Queensday in the Netherlands. On this day, April 30 2013, the crown prince Willem Alexander was crowned King of the Netherlands, meaning the national holiday Queensday is now Kingsday. The difference is that the date April 30 we were all used to for decades is now changed to April 26. This is because April 30 was the birthday of the late former Queen Juliana, and also the date her daughter, crown princess Beatrix at that time and now former Queen Beatrix, was crowned Queen of the Netherlands. Queen Beatrix kept the tradition of the national holiday Queensday on April 30. But since King Willem Alexander is crowned, this holiday is changed to April 26, given the fact that this is his birthday, even if he was crowned on April 30 also. That is not hard to achieve with all the fashion boutiques in shopping malls we have today all over the world. In this post I have a few pictures of a women’s boutique called Donna di Ricardo in the shopping centre “Amsterdamse Poort” in Amsterdam Southeast (Amsterdam Zuidoost).
