This summer Caribbean Fashion Spot will bring you the first ever Caribbean fashion show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Amsterdam. Six designers in the mid- and high segment will be showing their beautiful and inspiring collection on Saturday July 11, 2015 in the ‘Gashouder’, both clothing and accessories. The fashion labels that will be featured are all very different from one another, but all have that Caribbean touch to it.
Meet the designers:
A Surinamese fashion label specialized in unique and elegant silver jewelry, also characterized as a jewelry line from another world. All pieces are handmade. Atelier Doré has received several recognitions, namely Caribbean Master Designers in 2009, 2010 Award of Excellence, and in 2014 the Century International Gold Quality Era Award.
Bea Rodriguez Suarez – Puerto Rico
A prêt-à-porter clothing line from Puerto Rico with a style that can be characterized as sophisticated, feminine, elegant and daring. The clothing line incorporates classical pieces designed for the young, modern woman who lives in the city, but is captivated by nature. The collections were showcased amongst others in New York during New York Fashion Week, and also Barcelona.
CLD-Charu Lochan Dass – Trinidad & Tobago
An exclusive clothing line from Trinidad & Tobago with clothing that emphasizes the silhouette of a woman and her femininity. The clothing line represents elegance, sophistication, confidence, poise, sensuality and exclusivity. Last year, the clothing brand was shown for the first time in New York during New York Fashion Week.
The Aruban designer Gigliola Gomez Arendsz is known for her distinct clothing, distinct colors and flowers that she incorporates into her designs. The garments, especially cocktail dresses, are made by hand, and she also designs her own textiles (fabrics). This year Gigliola won the award for “Best Designer of Aruba”.
Heather Jones International – Trinidad & Tobago
A clothing line designed by Heather Jones from Trinidad & Tobago. Her inspiration comes from the rhythm, movement and passion of the islands. An exclusive clothing line where the clothing is made of hand-painted silk chiffons, in varied weights, in the vibrant colors of the tropics, filled with the energy and abundance of the Caribbean life. The collection is designed to reveal the romantic nature and sensuality of today’s woman.
A women’s clothing line from the Netherlands of a young local designer Anthonia Raymond, originally from Nigeria. Ms.Ray aims to magnify the beauty of a woman by keeping it simple and classy.
